Franceska Jordan AM to visit Perth

Author Franceska Jordan AM

Under the Boab Tree

A stirring tale about hope and love across two continents – Africa and Australia. About tenacity and courage in the face of adversity.

Under the Boab Tree  is a stirring memoir that traverses Africa and Australia. A memoir of Isabella Jordan by her daughter Franceska Jordan and their journeys through the difficulties of loss and exile. A special character called Boaboa pronounced – Bow -a Bow-a – is a real tree – the Baobab – that imparts wisdom to a growing child in a South African garden and as an adult in Australia. A cultural and scenic journey through Africa to a forest in Australia.  A love for others and themselves comes through these women’s tenacity and courage in the face of adversity. Additionally, how with strong roots you can weather almost anything and grow.

This book is told in a lyrical style – it is about wise counsel, resilience, glimpses of wonder and insights. Inspires hope, strength and connects with the richness, contradictions, and peaceful resolutions at the end of this tale.

Under The Boab Tree will appeal to readers of political and personal histories in Africa, Australia and internationally.  With an interest in Africa’s political and personal histories, Isabella and Franceska Jordan’s lived experiences in apartheid South Africa and other parts of Africa are seen from 1940’s to 2016. Franceska’s pioneering work for people with Alzheimer’s Disease and their carers is briefly covered as well.
